 World Rare Diseases Day           2022 !!


28 February is Rare Disease Day.
The purpose of this day is to
Raise awareness and generate change for the 300 million people worldwide living with a rare disease, their families and carers.
February was officially declared Rare Disease Month in 2008 with February having the “rarest” number of days.



What Is A Rare diseases??
Rare dieases means diseases which remains unknown are called rare diesease which cause approximately 7,000 rare diseases affecting between 25 and 30 million Americans. This equates to 1 in 10 Americans, 400 million people worldwide, of whom 30 million are in Europe and 25 million in the United States are effected by these rare dieases.



What Can We Do To Support Rare Diease Patients??
        To support these worriors we can invite everyone to light or decorate their home with the Rare Disease Day colours at 7 PM your local time on Monday, 28 February 2022.
The Blue Denim Genes Ribbon is a symbol of hope for more than 7,000 small rare disease communities around the world. Wear your denim ribbon to show your support on World Rare Disease Day. We all can give charity to hospitals and orphans to help families and patients.

         The symbol to represent rare diease day in America is The zebra, with its its distinctive markings  symbolizes both individual uniqueness and community In honor of our shared mascot we wear striped clothing and accessories to show our support of those lives impacted by a rare disease.



Rare Diseases Zebra !!
The zebra, with its distinctive stripes, is the official symbol of rare diseases in the United States .
This is why people with EDS refer to themselves as Zebras. Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is considered a rare condition and so EDS sufferers are known as medical zebras. This identity has now been adopted across the world through social media to help bring our community together.
                 Medical students are given this quote as a way to let them know that they should look for a common diagnosis for the symptoms they are given instead of the possibility of it being a rare case.
